  • Boys Golf will be played next Monday, the 27th-Not Today. They will meet in room 606 today. 
  • Boys Tennis will be played Wednesday, the 22nd-Not Today. They will meet at the tennis courts today.
  • Varsity Baseball is cancelled today. TBD rest of the week. All levels of Baseball will meet at Taylor Gym.
  • Softball games will be played today, and they will leave at the start of 5th period.
  • Track & Field will report to the Old Gym.
  • Swim & Dive will report to Sinsheimer as normal for practice today.
  • Boys Volleyball will report to New Gym.

2017-18 Registration:  The PowerSchool portal to select your 2017-18 classes is open and closes Friday, March 24th, at 4pm.  To access the PowerSchool registration directions to begin selecting classes, visit the SLOHS website, under the “Student” tab click on “Registration”.  Please contact your school counselor with any questions.

Today is International Day For The Elimination of Racial Discrimination. It is a call to action to eliminate all forms of discrimination worldwide. In many parts of the world, discrimination is widespread, including racial, ethnic, religious and nationality based profiling. Every person is entitled to human rights without discrimination. Show respect towards others, not only today but everyday.

The deadline to change Trimester 2 grades is Today.

From the Nurse’s desk, Judith Gier:  Today, 10th grade students and applicable students in other grades, will have hearing and vision screened during 1st and 2nd period. This will include students who were absent during the screening first trimester.  If your student wears glasses, please be sure they bring them.  If the screening shows a concern, parents will be notified by mail.  If you do NOT want your student screened, please notify me in writing prior to the screening date.  If you have any questions, contact me at San Luis Obispo High School, 596-4040.

If the confirmation notice does NOT reflect the exam(s) you were expecting to take, please see Secretary Mrs. Kreyenhagen in the Counseling office to make the correction no later than March 22nd, at 4 p.m. as the ordering process will be complete and no additional changes may be requested. If the exam(s) listed on the confirmation notice are correct, no action is needed.

Tigers, the SLO Democrats will be having a meeting this Wednesday, March 22nd, at lunch, in the Lecture Demo Room.  Come by for some pizza and discussion about political events!

Tigers, on Wednesday, March 22nd, the SLO High Track and Field team is having their ONLY home meet against AG.  We need your support to show AG this is our territory!  Come at 3:30pm ready to bring down the AG Eagles!

The ‘SLO HIGH School Wide Art Show’ will be accepting artwork through Wednesday, March 22nd. The theme this year is ‘The Natural World’.  It is open to ALL students even if you are not currently in an art class. You may submit any medium and various sizes are encouraged. This is a great opportunity to showcase artwork you created this year.  For more information pick up an application from an Art Department teacher.

Art After Dark Exhibit!  Enter an art piece into the School Wide Art Show and possibly be chosen for the ‘Art After Dark’ SLO High Art Exhibit at the Art Central Gallery opening May 5th.  See a SLO High art teacher for more info.

Hello Tigers!  Join ASB, FNL and MEXA Club for a great night during EL Baile de Primavera (spring dance) on Saturday, March 25th, from 8pm – 11pm, in the New Gym.  Tickets are $5 in advance and $7 at the door.

Anyone interested in the Trig Star Competition, please come to Mr Jimmie Johnson’s room (100) at lunch on Thursday, March 23rd.  We will go over the format of the test, review some critical topics and talk strategies for success.  If you are not able to make this meeting, please see Mr Johnson ASAP to get some prep materials.

REACH Club will meet in the library conference rooms at lunch on Thursday.

New Art Courses for 2017-18:  When registering for 2D art courses for next year (i.e. painting, drawing, design), follow this guideline for placing yourself into the correct level…

  • If you are NEW to taking 2D art, sign up for Art 1.
  • If you have taken Drawing 1 and/or Design 1, sign up for Art 2.
  • If you have taken three art courses (Drawing 1 and Design 1&2) or (Drawing 1, Design 1, Painting 1), sign up for Art 3.
  • Art 4 & AP Art – 2D Studio will be offered the following year (2018-19).

Have you ever wanted to speak on, or educate your peers on something you are passionate about?  Well here’s your chance! Tiger Talks are SLO High School’s take on the famous TED Talks.  Applications are available outside the ASB room (130) and due on March 31st. Both students and staff are encouraged to apply!

Change in PSAT 10 Test Date:  Please mark your calendar. The PSAT 10 exam date has been changed to Monday, April 3rd. Please plan on arriving to the test site location no later than 7:50 a.m. You will receive a reminder notice and test location prior to the exam. The SLO Color Blast Fun Run is a non-competitive family-friendly 5k run/walk on Saturday, April 8th.

Band Fundraiser:  Turn in used phones and ink cartridges to support band.  We get more money than you may think!  Drop items off at the band room until Monday, April 10th.  Donations are also being accepted.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

Mayor’s Award for Community Service   Celebration & ceremony will be on Tuesday, June 6th. To be eligible for the Mayor’s Award, students should submit community service verification forms to the Career Center NO LATER THAN Monday, May 15th. Service conducted the summer of 2016 may be included.  It’s not too late to meet your goals!

Hearthstone Housing Foundation                                                                                         Deadline: March 31st  Multiple scholarships up to $5,000 for students from SLO County and especially residents of the Madonna Road Apartments.
