Congratulations to SLOFFA!  FFA members competed in State competitions during Spring Break with many successes.  A number of members will be attending Nationals in Indiana in October.

Congratulations Skills USA Team!  SLOHS had several winners at the State competition in San Diego during Spring Break who are advancing to the National competition in Kentucky this June.

AP Exam Information:  AP Exams begin Today and end Friday, May 12th.  AP Exam Late Testing will take place May 17th – 19th.  Note:  Testers must remain in the AP Exam test site area until ALL AP Exams have been collected and accounted for by the proctor.  Testers may NOT leave the test site for any reason.  Please inform your employer, coach, parent, etc. of this obligation prior to your AP Exam date.  Please wear layered clothing for your comfort.  You may bring a small snack and a drink which must be stored in your backpack.  You will be directed to place your backpack in a designated area.  If you have any questions, see Assistant Principal Ms. Mamo.  See schedule below.

The Penny War Fundraiser has been extended to Friday, May 5th.  Remember pennies are positive points so put them into your class’s water jug.  Silver coins and dollars are negative points so put them into other classes water jugs in order to sabotage other classes.  The way to win 200 spirit points is to have the least amount of silver coins and dollars and the most pennies in your class’ water jug on May 5th.  All funds will be donated to Gravity Water, a non profit organization dedicated to providing a clean water source to schools in Nepal, at the end of next week.

FCCLA is putting on their annual fashion show on Saturday, May 6th at 1 pm at the Masonic Temple and is looking for models, especially staff members.  See Ms. Washmuth in room 513 if interested.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

The Ranch Hoedown Fundraiser on Saturday, May 6th from 4 – 7 PM  at 950 Laureate Lane, SLO.  The event needs teenagers to help with games, set up, clean up, serving BBQ, etc.  The Ranch provides an agricultural setting with work opportunities for adults with disabilities.  To volunteer call 234-6455 or email theranchslo@gmail.com

Mayor’s Award for Community Service   Celebration & ceremony will be on Tuesday, June 6th. To be eligible for the Mayor’s Award, students should submit community service verification forms to the Career Center NO LATER THAN Monday, May 15th. Service conducted the summer of 2016 may be included.  It’s not too late to meet your goals!
