COLLEGE APPLICATION HELP:  Please come to the Library if you have any questions concerning your college application for “College Application HELP”.  The counselors will be available for one-on-one assistance today at 2:00 pm.  Sign up today for this workshop in the Counseling Office.

 

STUDENT ACTIVITIES:

 

SENIOR GRADUATION MEETING: Seniors it is time! We are having a mandatory meeting Monday, December 7th at 8:45 am to order your caps, gowns, and graduation announcements, and also the best/worst senior survey packets will be distributed. Do NOT miss this mandatory meeting, Monday, December 7th, at 8:45 am!

 

DRAMA CLUB AUDITIONS  Cinderella auditions have been postponed until January 26 & 27 due to the "Raise the Curtain" fundraiser.

 

CHRISTMAS TREES AND WREATHES:  The band and choir are pre-selling beautiful, fresh Christmas trees and wreathes to help raise funds for their upcoming tours. TODAY, November 23rd is the last day to order.  . Prices are $50 for a Noble Fir tree, $35 for a Doug Fir tree and $20 for a wreath. Trees and wreathes can be picked up at the school on December 4 and 5. To place an order, contact a band or choir member, or for more information, call Ed at 550 5387.

 

SUGGESTION BOXES:  Thank you for your suggestions!  If you have an idea to contribute to ASB for student activities such as dances, assemblies, posters, song requests or any others, please let us know by writing a suggestion and placing it in the Tiger striped boxes outside the ASB room and counseling offices.

ATTENTION SNOW-LOVERS!  YOPAC is hosting its first ever Warren Miller Video Contest!  Make a 1-2 minute video of any snow-related activity (snowboarding, skiing, sledding, etc) and see the winner's video on the BIG SCREEN during intermission of Warren Miller's film premiere, DYASTY, scheduled to show Tuesday December 1, 7pm at the Cohan Center (PAC @ Cal Poly). PE CLOTHES ON SALE:  P.E. clothes are on sale for next trimester in room 131 every day at lunch.

 

TRASH PICK-UP REMINDER:  A reminder to all students who have been assigned trash pick-up:  you must report for trash pick-up 15 minutes before lunch ends or you will not be credited for serving.

 

TOYS FOR TOTS SLO HS COLLECTION:  When you are shopping on Black Friday, try to remember the TOYS for TOTS collection here at SLO HS. Bring an unwrapped toy and place it in the box outside the Career Center. It will fill you with the holiday spirit.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES with Santa's House:  Are you looking for a great way to earn some community service and have fun at the same time? The Downtown Association is looking for volunteers to work 3 hour shifts  in pairs greeting families and taking pictures of children on Santa's lap. VOLUNTEER WITH YMCA:  Like to work with kids? Like to take pride in a finished product?  The SLO YMCA is looking for Volunteer Jump Rope Coaches to train and lead

local YMCA Jump Rope teams in a Jump Rope competition in March 2010.  This

position meets weekly with YMCA staff and students to prepare for the Jump

WOULD YOU LIKE TO EARN SOME COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS? Would you like to earn some Community Service hours?  Do you like working with 6th grade students?  CL Smith Elementary is looking for male High School counselors for a 4 day, 3 night trip to Rancho Alegre Outdoor School (near Lake Cachuma).  They leave on the morning of Tuesday, January 12th and return in the afternoon on Friday, January 15th.  If you are an 11th or 12th grade male and like to work with younger students, please apply!  See Mrs. Senecal in Counseling for an application.

Community Service Awards for Girls age 14-17:  The local Soroptimist International Chapter of SLO is looking for applicants for the Violet Richardson Award. The Award aims at identifying, recognizing, honoring, and giving a financial award to students who have been active in community service and volunteering.  Applications are available in the College and Career Center and Due December 15th

Elks  Legacy Awards -

Any child or grandchild of a living Elk who joined before April 1, 2006 is eligible to apply for the Elks National Foundation Legacy Award worth $1,000 a year for 4 years.
