Lab Introduction and Procedures

Lab Title: Name of Lab Activity clearly stated at the top of the lab write-up. 1    
Purpose: Referred to as the "PROBLEM" in the text, handout, or by the instructor. This will be a short description of the purpose of the lab answering the question: "Why are we doing this lab?" 2    
Hypothesis:The hypothesis clearly shows it is based on research. 1    
Procedures are written during pre-lab preparation and clearly state what is planned. 1    
Observations
10 points
"Results" of a procedure are clearly recorded. Measurements, when required, show proper units. This section includes the notes you collect like the times, temperatures used, quantities, good things that happened and the bad. If possible, data should be in a graph or chart. Answer all questions in the procedure of the book or any of the additional questions at the end of the lab that the instructor assigns. 10    
Conclusion

Summarize the essential lab data. Show how the essential data answers the lab question. Tell the instructor what you have learned in the lab, but do it by showing understanding of knowledge learned. Show the instructor that you understand why this lab was important to learn and how it supported all of the reading and lecture in class. 10    
Presentation

Report is neat and easy to read. It may be hand written or written with a word processor. All information is organized. 2    
Any diagram or drawing used in the experiment is drawn and labeled properly.

Deadline Lab reports are due at the beginning of class the day after lab. Reports will be accepted until the end of the unit for 1/2 credit.
