Notebook
Requirements


In this class, a notebook is required. This notebook is your responsibility. If you fall behind, it becomes increasingly difficult to catch up. If you keep up on a daily  basis, your notebook will be a valuable resource in passing this class.
 

BASIC REQUIREMENTS (grade desired by student is a "C")

1. BINDER - All notes, labs, Chapter CheckPoint Questions, assignments, etc. will be in a working binder. If you cannot get one, see Mr. Hamley and he will find you one.
 
2. ORGANIZATION - All information found in this notebook must be organized in such a fashion that anyone may follow the progression of events of the class content. Most notebooks will be organized in chronological order by sections. Section titles must be included.
HONORS BIOLOGY: Current Events, Ethics Issue, Science Careers, Scientist Biography, and an Eco-Action for Biology Honors students added to each unit taught: this is a small portion of your notebook that contains magazine articles, newspaper clippings, and the like that deal with SCIENCE!  A one page paper is necessary to summarize the article and explain your opinions on the article. Explain what you found most significant about the article you read. These must be dated.
 
3. NEATNESS - All information in the notebook will be readable to most anyone.
ABOVE AVERAGE NOTEBOOK REQUIREMENTS (grade desired is a "B")
All of the basic requirements above plus the following:
 
1. CLEAN binder, WELL organized,  notes and drawings may be handwritten.
2. COMPLETE and COMPREHENSIVE table of contents that chronologically outlines the class content. This layout looks very much like the table of contents in your text book. The key units and concepts are listed with a page numbers.

3. Diagrams should be included with your lab write-up. Diagrams must be labeled.

SUPERIOR NOTEBOOK REQUIREMENTS (grade desired is an "A")

All of the above requirements and:

1. All notes and assignments neatly hand written or written using a word processing program.  All pages must be well layed-out and functional.
 
2. Diagrams should be made with other colors to enhance the visual image. All diagrams must be labeled properly. Any diagram should have a caption / title.

GRADING -- All notebooks will be graded at the end of each unit.
