SLO High School

From the desk of Leslie O’Connor, Principal, Friday, February 7, 2014

¨ Special praise goes to our Mock Trial students this week. Joshua Dorman and Ruby Callahan won most valuable
player awards from the other teams in this week’s competition. SLOHS advisor James Bruce said that “if you closed
your eyes and simply listened you’d have thought you were in a real trial and you’d have been glad to have one of
our students as your attorney.” Well done to all the Mock Trial students and their advisors Marianne Elefant and
James Bruce.

¨ Congratulations to Krisse Miller on her amazing performance at the County-wide Poetry Out Loud competition.
Krissie represented our school and we are very proud of her outstanding performance.

¨ It was standing room only at the Financial Aid workshop sponsored by Cuesta College on Wednesday night. It was
great to see so many parents and students pick up tips and information regarding the financial aid process.

¨ FHA-HERO is taking 12 students to competition at Menlo-Atherton H.S. this Sat. The top winners will be eligible to
compete at their State Leadership Meeting and Competition in April in Riverside. Good luck to all involved!

¨ Don’t forge to come out and support the Drama Club’s Production of “The Shadowbox” this weekend. Show times
are Friday at 4PM and 7PM. Saturday at 2PM and 7PM. Admission is $7 for adults and $5 for students.

¨ It was wonderful to see 40 of our AVID students board the charter bus this morning with AVID teachers James
Bruce, Eldra Avery and Rita Delkeskamp for their college visit to UC Merced and Fresno State. Well done AVID!
