THIS WEEK:
¨ Congratulations to our Girls’ Softball team for an emphatic victory over St. Joe’s. Way to go Lady Tigers!

¨ Boys Tennis remains unbeaten in league play, and is ranked 4th in CIF polls. They beat San Marcos on Monday.

¨ Congratulations to our Trumpet players, Breanna Chambers & Thomas Green, who auditioned and was accepted
into the County Honor Jazz Band who performed at the Cuesta Experimental Theater.

¨ FHA-HERO took 10 students to the State Leadership Conference. They competed in 5 categories. Alyssa Thomas:
2nd place in Recycled Garment Design (featured in this year’s fashion show 5/ 31), and Hannah Greenelsh: 1st in
Child Development. Hannah received a trophy, $100, a spot at Nationals, and a $6000 renewable scholarship.

¨ Did you know that our Art class is working on the latest mural project on campus. If you get a chance, come see
the amazing work they have done to date on the wall in the Quad between the theatre and room 401.

¨ The SLOHS FFA returned from their State Convention. Our FFA advisors: Anna Bates & Jodi Evans, along with
our impressive students were selected as the Most Outstanding Chapter for the State of California. Our Novice
Parliamentary Procedure Team is State Champions. Ben Peterson is State Champion in Prepared Public Speaker.
Luke O’Leary, Wyatt Judge, Jessica Judge & Hailey Robella & Mara Basich Pease all finished in the top of
the State! The Veterinary Science Team placed 1st out of 30 teams at the Clovis Field Day.

¨ Did you know that this year 66 of our graduating seniors applied to UC Berkeley? Of these, 20 were accepted! It is
remarkable to reflect on the fact that 6.5% of the graduating class was admitted to Cal. Congratulations

¨ STUDENTS were reflective and polite for our “Every 15 Minutes” presentations sponsored by the SLO FNL.

¨ NO SCHOOL TOMORROW. Classes start on Monday at 9:30AM. Certificated staff meeting in J-2 for TCT.
NEXT WEEK ( April 21-25)

¨ CAMPAIGN WEEK for all students running for ASB Executive Office positions. VOTE for ASB Executive Council on
April 21-23. ASB will also sponsor a canned food drive the week of April 22-29. Our TiGERS GOT TALENT SHOW
will be held in the New Gym at 7:00PM on April 25th. Come out and support our creative students and ASB.

¨ TUESDAY: All 10th grade students will be participating in the NCLB Life Science Exam.

¨ WEDNESDAY: All 11th grade students who have previously taken the written portion of EAP ELA exam have the
opportunity to take the second portion of the EAP ELA exam. A student who has taken both portions of the exam
may be exempt from taking the CSU or Community College placement exams in English if they score proficient.

¨ WEDNESDAY: All students who have registered to take one or more AP Exams must attend the AP Exam Pre-
Administration Meeting in J-2 or the Old Gym during 4th period.

¨ THURSDAY : All 11th grade students who are currently enrolled or completed Algebra II and above mathematics
courses have the opportunity to take the EAP Mathematics exam. A student who participates in this exam may be
exempt from taking the CSU or Community College placement exams in Mathematics if they score proficient.

¨ THURSDAY: The Parent Principal Advisory will meet in the library at 7:00PM All parents are welcome to attend
this conversation about our school.
