Digital Design is designed to provide the student with knowledge, skills, and hands-on application in areas of graphic digital imagery. Students explore digital technology, in the areas of photographic imaging, video storytelling, video editing, and multimedia authoring and presentations. This course follows the Visual and Performing Arts course standards to provide a meaningful experience and breadth of knowledge of the Arts. Particular attention is given to the student’s recognition and application of the relationships found within the expressive communication of the visual arts.

Digital Photography is a photography course in which students master technical skills in order to create photographic works of art.  Students will learn digital camera operation, computer input and resolution, photo editing programs, printmaking and electronic presentation.  Students will incorporate the elements and principles of design in their photographs and presentations.

Advanced Digital Design is designed to be a career preparation class in which the student will develop a professional portfolio. The student will develop their understanding of visual literacy in the workplace by creating, presenting, responding, and connecting their learning in graphic design. The student will work with professional state of the art/industry multimedia software to develop projects for self and local businesses. In addition, the student will learn how to develop, create, revise, and present their work as a working graphic designer would do.

This course will provide students with the necessary skills to seek entry level employment or continue their education toward a degree in electronic communication/media. The course includes practical application of the techniques of video production, sound recording, camera operation, and non-linear editing. Students will also learn job seeking, customer service, and marketing.

This course trains students in concepts and principles used in film and video production "from script to screen". The course exposes students to the basics of visual storytelling through the creation of storyboards, script writing, various shot types, camera movements, lighting, audio and techniques of editing.  Emphasis is placed on the conceptualization, planning and execution of a film as well as the creative aspects of film production and film analysis. In addition, students will have opportunities to learn the skills necessary for jobs within the industry, such as:  director, editor, cinematographer, sound designer, screenwriter and others.

Introduction to Professional Theatre serves as an exploratory survey of theatre, dance, music, and the art of performance. This course provides an overview of industry vocabulary, techniques, and skills required for successful performance. With a concentration both on techniques of acting and the more practical side of preparation, students will develop a deep understanding of the production process and the requirements for an effective stage production.

Intermediate Professional Theatre builds on and extends students learning from the introductory course as they uncover complex acting techniques, delve deeper into career pathways, explore further historical eras, and experience hands-on learning in technical theatre and the production process. This class will culminate with the production of a one act performance in which students will serve as actors, directors, stage managers, lighting and sound operators, stage crew, and designers. The intent of this course is to create self-aware, collaborative, and educated performance artists with a deepened knowledge of the theatre industry.

Advanced Professional Theatre develops students fundamental knowledge of performance, learned in the introductory and intermediate courses, to prepare them for further training and to enter the industry after high school. This course also pushes students to determine their role in society as an artist. This course requires students to draw on their fundamental acting, analytical and performance skills to move them through more rigorous application of these skills in production. Students will keep a portfolio of work and designs including their capstone play study project. This class will also introduce actors to the fundamentals of Musical Theatre as it will culminate with a whole class Musical Showcase where students will demonstrate their skills in acting, dance, and music.
